When MySql runs, is that considered a hot backup?

We have an application that uses MySql, and is installed on a high-end laptop. Throughout the day, 2-4 users access an app at random which queries the database. I was hoping to kick off backups every two hours in-case soda or coffee comes in contact with the laptop.

If I use a basic script that the vendor provided to us, the database size is <=200mb's.

If MySql Backup does not perform a hot backup, any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

MySQLBackupFTP creates backups with the help of mysqldump. By default mysqldump is not hot backup tool.

If your tables are pure InnoDB, and you use the --single-transaction option with mysqldump, then, yes, it would be considered hot.

You can add this options into the "Extra command line params:" at the "Export Options" windows. To open it please click "Advanced backup settings" > "More SQL Options..." > "Export options...".
