Hello,

I'm currently trailing your software which looks to be perfect to our needs however it is falling over when attempting to SFTP the files!

The backup says:

Quote:

09/13/2013 09:45:17 Creating backup of SwimmingDB to C:\Windows\TEMP\Pranas.NET\SQLBackupAndFTP\lfct3uvi (full)
09/13/2013 09:45:17 Compressing (internal zip) SwimmingDB201309130945.bak to C:\Windows\TEMP\Pranas.NET\SQLBackupAndFTP\lfct3uvi
09/13/2013 09:45:18 Compression completed (archive: "SwimmingDB201309130945.zip", size: 1,030 KB)
09/13/2013 09:45:18 Removing SwimmingDB201309130945.bak from C:\Windows\TEMP\Pranas.NET\SQLBackupAndFTP\lfct3uvi
09/13/2013 09:45:18 The job is running in trial mode. The trial period: 12/09/2013 15:12:00 - 12/10/2013 15:12:00
09/13/2013 09:45:18 Connecting to SFTP:sftp.mrm.co.uk:22
09/13/2013 09:45:18 Uploading SwimmingDB201309130945.zip to SFTP:sftp.mrm.co.uk:22 (SwimmingDB201309130945.zip)
09/13/2013 09:45:48 WARNING: "SBFDS3006": Ftp destination exception > Session operation has timed out
09/13/2013 09:45:49 Trying again...

However the SFTP server settings are set to timeout after 600 seconds not 30 seconds. The error always kicks in after 30 seconds. I've looked on the SFTP server and the following is the SFTP log:

Quote:

[09:45:18] COMMAND:> Password: ****
[09:45:18] STATUS:> Password accepted
[09:45:18] COMMAND:> Login user: sqlbackups
[09:45:18] STATUS:> User name accepted
[09:45:18] COMMAND:> Open file: /Usr/sqlbackups/SwimmingDB201309130945.zip
[09:45:18] STATUS:> File opened successfully
[09:45:48] STATUS:> Disconnected
[09:45:48] STATUS:> File closed: /Usr/sqlbackups/SwimmingDB201309130945.zip

What is going on? I tried to find the: "Write FTP session to log" setting in the application but couldn't??

Hello,

Yes, "Write FTP session to log" setting is not applied for SFTP.
Do you get this error when you test this destination? You can test it by clicking on "Test" button on the destination configuration window.

Regards,
Alexey.

When I click test connection it says the connection was successful. Also the SFTP server works fine when I connect to it using FileZilla FTP client. The server is Globalscape FTP server, not sure what version I'm afraid. Thanks for your help!

We have added BufferSize option for SFTP connection in SQLBackupAndFTP 9.0.28. Please open your .jobx file with notepad and add attribute for FTP destination like in the example (see the bold text):
...
<Destination pranas:Type="FTP" Uri="XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" Port="22" Path="backup" UserName="asp" Password="SBFCode:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" DataConnection="Passive" Protocol="Sftp" TraceLog="false" PartLength="8388608" UseControlAddressForPassive="false" UseTempUpload="true" MaxTransferRate="0" Id="95bd7950-a533-4b2a-b0b1-7357a3904eff" BufferSize="4096">
...
Save the .jobx file in notepad, open it with SQLBackupAndFTP and try to run the job.
You can get the latest release of SQLBackupAndFTP on the download page.

Heya,

Backups have been working like clockwork until last night, for some reason I got the following error message on just one of the database backups: WARNING: "SBFDS3006": Ftp destination exception > Client not connected.

Databases before and after it worked fine though?

Hello,

SQLBackupAndFTP should retry to upload if any error happens. So, it's a message with WARNING severity. If it cannot upload a file with a number of attempts, it throws an error.
Was the file uploaded as a result of job?

Regards,
Alexey.
